The Dean is the governing body. The Dean represents the Faculty in the country and abroad.

Dear students,

The Faculty of Medicine in Skopje, as one of the largest and oldest institutions of its kind in the country, has an invaluable importance in the educational, scientific and health system of our country.

Your choice to study at this faculty, in the years ahead of you, will gradually introduce you to the inexhaustible secrets of medicine. From this day forward it will not be easy, but with each new day you will become stronger. You will face many challenges and temptations. You have years of hard work ahead of you, during which you will strive to stay true to the long-standing mission of medicine, to treat and improve the health of patients. In doing so, you should accept humanity as a basic element in your professional formation and grow into doctors with a strong sense of empathy. You will find constant support and encouragement along the way of your medical education in your professors.

You should embrace the years of studying with joy and pride, since they make you part of the diversity and equality provided by the width of our profession.

The Dean's Office is the governing body of the Faculty and has 11 members.

The Dean’s Office consists of:

  • the dean;
  • the vice-deans;
  • one head of the departments of the surgical branches of medicine (surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedics, anesthesiology and resuscitation, gynecology and obstetrics);
  • one head of the departments of the internal medicine branches of medicine (radiology, internal medicine, pediatrics, dermatovenereology, neurology, infectology, oncology, transfusion medicine, physical medicine, psychiatry, primary health care);
  • one head of the departments of the basic branches of medicine that do not have applied activities and preventive branches (anatomy, medical ethics and medical chemistry, social medicine, epidemiology, hygiene and occupational medicine);
  • two heads of institutes performing health activities (pathology, microbiology and parasitology, forensic medicine, pathophysiology, physiology, pharmacology with toxicology, immunology, biochemistry, histology with embryology, nuclear medicine);
  • the president of the Student Parliament.

The term of office of the representatives in the Dean’s Office is 4 years. The Secretary of the Faculty also participates in the work of the Dean’s Office without the right to decide. The Dean’s Office convenes and chairs the sessions. The election of the heads of the Dean’s Office from the departments is carried out by secret ballot by the heads of the departments from the relevant branches of medicine (surgery, internal medicine, basic medicine), upon the proposal of the Dean.
